And there’s a lot to choose from - over 53 different weapons, as of the Mistlands Update.
In this guide we’ll walk you through our tier list of the very best weapons inValheim.
They have no secondary attack, and deal almost exclusively Blunt damage to enemies.
AxeAxes are deceptively strong weapons throughout the game.
The Axe’s secondary attack is a strong overhead chop.
Its secondary attack is a quick forward jab to keep enemies at a distance.
It has no secondary attack, and its attack rate is very slow as it can’t combo.
It is, however, excellent against Stone Golems.
SwordSwords are versatile, a strong mix of damage and speed.
AtgeirAtgeirs are large polearms with excellent range.
Their slowness, however, keeps them from being among the best weapons on offer.
SpearSpears are extremely simple stabbing weapons that deal Pierce damage, much like Atgeirs.
Unfortunately their slightly clunky hitbox makes Spears a difficult weapon jot down to use effectively.
FistsFists are a bit of an odd category.
StaffAdded with the Mistlands Update, Staves are magical weapons which differ greatly from one another in use.
Some require you to expend Health to make it activate their effects, while others only require Eitr.
BowBows are very strong ranged weapons throughout the game.
They’re flexible and deliver high Pierce damage from a safe distance.
Their only downside is that continually holding the string back drains your Stamina quickly.
CrossbowThere is only one Crossbow in the game so far - the Arbalest.
It deals massive damage but fires slowly and requires time to reload.
On the upside, it doesn’t drain your Stamina while you’re aiming.
Meadows weapons
The Meadows are the first biome in Valheim, and by far the safest.
But it’s still important to figure out which one is best for you!

In our opinion the best weapon you might have in the Meadows tier is the Flint Axe.
Using this new resource you could craft weapons which are markedly stronger than the wooden weaponry of the Meadows.
The Bronze Mace is a fantastic choice of weapon for the Black Forest.
