There’s a fair amount to chew on when it comes to forming your auto-battling army. The key is building up an army that gives you a good balance of its three main archetypes. There’s also the small, or rather large problem of its excessive text reams. As it should be. Rinse, repeat, forever. It is, of course, still in early access.

It’s a handsome, well-conceived setting, and at least initially, a spooky one. The other obvious highlights are the voice and motion performances, together with the general character art and animation. I wouldn’t say I’m fond of Jack and Jess, exactly. He’s an embarrassing old git and she’s an unbearably plucky youngster. The backstory video performances are very watchable, too. It’s just a shame that there isn’t much to be conspiratorial about....
